Nobody can resist a good downhill snow ride – especially when the path includes a hump designed strictly for the purpose of getting air – lots of air.
Richard hit this hump at about 75 mph, and landed smoothly to finish safely at the bottom of the hill. OK, maybe it wasn’t quite 75 mph, but it sure feels like it when you sit down on the innocuous little plastic sled, lift your feet and the world becomes a blur in about a half second. (It reminded me of the scene in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation movie when Chevy Chase tried out some super non-stick spray on his snow dish, shot down a mountain and ended up in a Walmart Dumpster™.)
I took the Path More Traveled, the one without the hump. It was fast, too – but instead of air, I got snow – crammed in everywhere.
